Scotia Recycling Celebrates 50 Years

On September 22, Scotia Recycling Limited celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of leadership in recycling and environmental stewardship across Atlantic Canada.

Founded in 1976, Scotia Recycling was built on the vision of R.A. Jodrey, who recognized the value of recycled fibre as a resource for manufacturing operations such as Minas Basin Pulp and Paper and CKF. His belief that good stewardship and good business go hand in hand continues to guide the company today.

Over the past 50 years, Scotia Recycling has grown into a leader in Atlantic Canada’s recycling industry and an important member of the Scotia Investments family of companies. The anniversary celebration brought together employees, customers, suppliers, community partners, and shareholders to reflect on the company’s history and look ahead to its future.

Guests included The Honourable Colton LeBlanc, Nova Scotia’s Minister of Growth, Development and Defence Industries; Andy Fillmore, Mayor of Halifax; Randy MacMillan, President and CEO of Scotia Investments; members of the Jodrey family, including Family Council Chair Leslie Bishop; and leaders from across the Scotia Investments family of companies, including Rhonda Sanders of CKF, Sheldon Gouthro of Maritime Paper Products, and Terry Gerhardt of Crown Fibre Tube.

The milestone also recognized the contributions of employees, past and present, whose dedication, hard work, and commitment have helped shape Scotia Recycling’s success and impact across the region. As the company enters its next chapter, it continues to build on a legacy of innovation, stewardship, and circular thinking that began 50 years ago.
